In my paintings people emerge from canyons of urban light. Or trees might erupt from unexpected places causing planes of buildings to be rendered off kilter.
These are visual narratives in which people move through broken forms—color trailing in their wake, a world of conflicting imperatives—to go, to stop, to be or perhaps not.
Mine is a painterly process. Transparent glazes are applied over impasto color, with layers trailing back to the first probative strokes on the canvas.
My paintings are continually in a process of becoming and I invite the viewer to experience this process along with me.
